TC .50 cal
|
Just a question for all you muzzeloading people.
I have never had a pass through shot on any deer I have shot with my TC .50 cal. I am shooting 245 grain powerbelt with 150 grain's of powder. Any ideas on what may give me that passthrough?
This is more of a just wondering question. The gun is dead on and i only have to track a few feet in most situations.

Yotes
|
It seems i am not having a whole lot of luck my first year of yote hunting. I am not sure what else i can try , other than hearing 1 howl that sounded like it wanted to eat me , thats all the action i have had. Has anyone had any luck with howling, or is the rabbit distress the way to go.. Also i belive the mating season is on its way, any hints or tricks i can try out? Thanks
Check out the rub i found during deer season, i found 4 this size within 80 yards of each other.

NYS Pistol Permit
|
So i call the Town of Colonie today to make my appointment to submit the forms for a pistol permit, not even the main application, they only give you the "pre application form packet " first, they need 5 pics, the safty course, driving abstract and of course the $105 fee. The first available appointment is in June(????!?!?), soo i wait 5 months to get the next set of papers with the references and the MAIN application ???? they were not lying when i was told " it takes as long as it takes".

Seems the hunter was to fault , not the weather.
|
New to here, figured id share this story
I am sure I am not the only person here who was just soooo pleased hearing the weather report for opening day today. But I went out despite rain, fog and 60 degrees. Here is my story. 7:30am I thought a truck was coming through the woods, turns out it was a nice 8 pointer that was high as hell on the thought of a doe. He was trotting, head down grunting crashing through. I stop him 25 yards broadside and BANG!!......30 minutes later after scouring the earth I admit to myself I missed...I climb back into the tree having a torettes fit inside my head about what has happened....15 minutes later, what's standing 30 yards in front of me??? yes he is back ,he starts to make a scrape, I say OK take your time, aim , BANG.. he drops in his tracks... WHOOO HOOOOOO......my dad calls and I say " yeah he made the mistake of giving me a second chance" as I am saying this, guess who starts flopping around and boom , just like that, crashing through the woods he goes.....Mind you I had more than a minute to shoot him 10 more times , but who would think that would happen. As you can expect I am in AWE of what has just transpired......To end my lengthy story... 2 miles and 4 mountains later, the 8 pointer wins and I never recover my deer
