bittersweet kinda feelin
Yesterday I was shed hunting and found the 1 I shot at first day of rifle season. 18 inch spred 10 pointer. We're figuring he's about 130. I guess this explains why I never seen him again and I hunted every day. I'm blessed with a piece of property where I'm the only one allowed to hunt; 270 acres. For 3 years I have been letting alot of smaller bucks go. Some of the surrounding landowners are doing the same thing. All in all there's almost 1000 acres of deer management goin on. The benefits are showing.

1st coyote ever called!!!
Got a coyote call for Christmas; 3 days later' BINGO!!! 42 lb female. Way too many of these around. If you can find the time, try it. Any dead coyote it a good coyote. Besides, its a great way to practice shootn' your deer rifle. I feel another addiction coming on lol.

great site
Just joined. Nice to have a local site. I live in Coxsackie. No bucks this year but that OK. The big ones made it again. Let a 7 or 8 little ones go. I hope they lay down for 2 yrs lol. I only shoot 8 pointers or more, and does. Try'n my best to trophy manage the 270 acres I got to myself. The surrounding landowners are doin the same for the most part. So all in all its about 600 acres. I let an 8 pointer go last year and found both of his drops this year..of course I didnt see him, but hes still alive. Got 2 does with the muzzleloader so the freezer is full. Gotta love late season. Now its time to hammer down on as many coyotes as I can. There's way to many of 'em where I hunt. Got 2 with the rifle, but there's probably 20 more. They gotta be killin alot of fawns in the spring. Happy holidays to everyone, and once again nice bein here.
