I'm Poor
I'm looking for venison donations for the poor. Cause my poor freezer is only holding two sets of backstraps, and I need more. No big bucks on the mountain (by me) of course the Dog Warden shot a nice six. Just shot a button buck (piss poor performance on my part) durring a drive in 4c (had a doe permit) I swear the thing was gonna run me over, and it did look alot bigger in the scope!!! Also shot a huge doe, (4m) her gut pile was bigger than the button buck. My ole lady told me we need more meat so we don't run out of hamburg come august. Also had three confirmed kills two weeks ago, but I guess my pigs don't count. However I am thinking about putting a tree stand over the pig pen maybe that way I can get something with the bow.(Can you say Bacon?) MountainMan the crew last weekend of rifle, where are you? Sunday open? Lets Hunt!!!

2 more days till Christmas!!! Hopefully I can lay a little lead into santa buck. Hey Mountainman I was thumbing through the ole Cabela's catalog today and couldn't help but notice a brand new venison marinating sauce. It's called "Shooters Choice" :) It's made for the antlers not the meat, I heard its really good!!! Knock em dead boy's from the "Beer Camp" Clan.

I can't wait to use my new mr. heater in motel 6, this thing is totally silent the only noise you here is a sound that resembles a lit cigarette lighter. Hopefully next post is a few dogs down. I'll let you all know. Hope everyone had great and safe holiday's. We had an awesome new years eve dinner here up on the mountain (Venison backstraps wraped in bacon!!!). Hey Mountainman, my old lady got me some swimmies for xmas, so I think I'm all set for some ice drinking!!! Let me know. Also we have to hook up and do some hunting up, here I got some snow shoes for xmas, and the dog warden has a couple of kayaks to strap to his feet, so lets kill something!!! Call me!!!

Husky's Rule!!!
Well, two day's left for me. Plowed the driveway tonite heard a coyote around 7:30 howling, I'll shoot him if I see him. Moon phase say's today is the best hunting so far this year, hopefully it will bleed into tommorrow!!! If it's brown it's down at this point (unless it's a spike of course) I hate rules!!! After this weekend any of the nuts that showed up at bear (BEER) camp are more than welcome to come on up to the mountain and have a "Kill the Coyote contest" until they are all dead!!! (to enter it will cost you a 12 pack of beer, the one with the most kills wins) Gotta go for now. Hey Mountain man give me a call, we'll hook up!!

really tough year
This year has been tough at best. I have not seen a single deer out of my tower stand. I have not seen a single buck in the woods durring gun season while hunting. I have a spike horn that I see on a regular basis on my front lawn, and out in the side fields, his spike are about 7 inches long. (Can't shoot spikes as part of our management program, plus I ain't gonna shoot him from the recliner). The deer have already started yarding up, up here I have about 8 or 9 that I watch outside my family room window. However from what I have heard it's for the most part the same song and dance everywhere else. We have come off of two tough winters, and seeing 4 hair piles earlier this spring back by the ledges was definetely an indication of a large winter kill. However there is hope for next year, and all of the spikes my buddy richie has been passing up all year will be decent fella's for 2006. Also this year has definitely been the year of the oak (tons of acorns), so tha boys have plenty of mast to eat for post rut recuperation. well thats it for now Christmas has come to an end and Santa just pinched off a loaf in my stocking.

Totally disgusted
O.K. here we are comming down to the last couple of weeks of the season, and I have yet to shoot a buck!!! Shot a doe last week so theres some meat in the freezer, but still no horns. Mountainman checked out the setup on Sunday and saw the same thing I did (NOTHING!!). As I sat out in the freezing cold with the snow piling up on my body, I couldn't help but wonder how warm it is in Motel 6 (the tower stand) but thats how it goes. Put on two usually productive drives, both pushing major holding grounds for the bucks, still nothing was seen. I must note that the mountainman is the only individual that has pushed the swamp with me that did not get lost or turned around (very impressive). I guess GPS does work in grafton!!! I just wish that thing would tell us where the Deer are. Well anyway this is the worst I have seen it up here in a long time, Hopefully this weekend will bring some sort of luck. Of course I have been saying that since the end of bow season. Hey mountainman I know you got a little hungry I forgot to tell you about the room service, I leave the menu out next time however the backstraps aren't available yet apperently there is a shortage this year. However I heard if you marinate them overnight, 30-06 shells can be very tasty!!! Till next time good luck to all.

Saw nothing, heard nothing until 8:10 a.m. thought I was having me some backstraps!!! Think again,Coyote comes trecking in and yes he got shot. No deer all day or night long what gives??? Guess I'll be eating some coyote tenderloins!!! PS: I have been told by two people so far that he is beautiful and I should have a full body mount. We'll see... Maybe I'll post a picture tomorrow. Christmas is finally here
I am freakin out!!! It's the most wonderful time of the year!!! The count down begins now!!! Dances of big ole bucks are running through my head! I'm all set got my list and I checked it twice, I'll shoot a forkhorn, but an eight point would be nice. And hopefuly if I'm lucky to my wonderous eyes will appear; is a big ole monster with nothing but points running a foot past it's ears. I'll take a shot amongst all of the clatter, and I'll walk up to him and ask "hey big boy whats the matter?" He'll be deader than dead with a bunch of wood on his rack. I'll drop that big ole buck right in his tracks! And what to my wonderous eye's will appear? Is a boone and Crocket scoreing big freakin deer? Hell I tried my best. To all Good Luck, And remeber.... May your belly always be full of beer, and your freezer filled with deer!!!

Graftons finest
This here specimen is my hunting partner, mark my words she will have a boone and crockett by the age of 16. I just have to teach her that she can't shoot every deer she see's. Anyway my old lady told me not to post this cause I'll get locked up, but I explained to her that you nuts would appreciate this picture. I finally figured out the whole picture thing so your all in trouble. After the end of the hunting season if anyone is interested I could post a play by play photo shoot of a food plot from start to finish. Just let me know if there is any interest. Hopefully I will be posting on saturday with a contest contender. Till then "may your belly always be full of beer, and your freezer filled with deer!!!"

Got wood? (husky's rule)
Sat morning last weekend before rifle season saw six deer could of shot 4 of them, of course I let them pass (Moron). Oh did I mention the two basset hound/beagle mix dogs that chased every single deer around off my land. I'm pissed!!! I had one of the dogs come right up to me I couldn't beleive it. Then I thought to myself Do dogs have back straps and tenderloins? Only kidding anyways still no meat in the freezer. Sunday set up motel six and I'm all set for saturday. I still can't figure out how to post the picture I figure maybe by Christmas I'll get it right. Till sat may your belly always be full of beer, and your freezer filled with deer. Good luck to all.

Front stand
Morning hunt el zippo, did firewood and planted garlic, went in stan 2:00 p.m. Moon phase was showing action at 3:55 p.m so an hour before and an hour after that should be prime. Went to fill my drip scent above a mock scrape I made (it's been a week and a half). I unscrew the top and out comes the piss all over my hands/great!!! So now I'm pissed off and pissed on for that matter. I fill up the dripper, and proceed to spit on my hands and wipe them off with leaves. Long story short I'm in my stand bow in hand and a dow comes in at 2:45 tha whole nine walks right into the area stops 5 feet from my tree may God strike me down if I'm lying, she sticks her nose on the air and looks right at me 14 feet up in the tree. She didn't spook or anything, I don't think she saw me. I could of shot her about ten times, I kept drawing back on her practicing, however I let her pass. I still have no meat But what another great experience. Hopefully next log entry is a buck; till then, may your belly be full of beer, and your freezer be full of deer!!!

Husky's Rule Stihls Don't Start
Well it's been a few day's since beer camp, No I mean bear camp, and my brain cells have recovered. To all of the nuts that showed up on Saturday thanks for a memorable nite (I think). It was like a clown car unloading when you guys showed up, I have no idea how you all fit in that truck. Saw no deer on sunday (It's tough hunting from the couch). Got about 6 inches of snow last nite so I figured I would cut out of work a little early to see where their running so I'm set for saturday. Saw 2 little skippers, no Mom and a ton of tracks all going by my front stand. The best part was that I had put out a dripping scent pack out last thursday and when I walked up to it there was a scrape, and the deer pissed all around the tree I hung it out of (great sign!!!). Hopefully one will be hanging saturday till then Good Luck to all.Hey Kentucky want a beer!!!!

First day bow hunting
Just got back from Beer/Bear camp no bears seen. One Doe shot and hanging. Of course I didn't shoot anything had a great shot at a doe and my primer cap scared the hell out of her. So I stoke the ole smoke pole in the basement and grab the bow. Hung out in my front stand all morning and saw nothing but birds flying sideways and acorns bouncing off my head. Decided to hit ole faithfull in the back, on my way out I heard a Doe blow at me so I stopped and squatted down to see where abouts she was. I finally located her about 30 yards to my left and I just watched her. She started sticking her nose up in the air trying to wind me then she started moving right in toward me. I couldn't beleive it she approached me dead on strutting into me like a buck, I didn't want to shoot her but I ain't gonna get hoof whacked either she came up to about 10-12 yards away and I started to draw when I exhailed my breath puffed out and it spooked her away. Nice action to say the least, but I prefer to be in a tree. Till next time.(10:45 a.m. by y back logging road)
