Here is a couple of pictures of my buck that I shot back in November. Skip Reilly mounted the deer and did an excellent job. I highly recommend him. $450         view photo

Some work I had done before I left NE. The beaver weighed 56.2 lbs, the largest I got that year and the Coyote I called in to within 10 ft before dropping the hammer!         view photo
Ridgerunner replied on Jun 03: The guy was awesome and very reasonable. He even did the jobs in a short turn around time due to me being stationed in Japan. I did all the research prior and even went to visit his place to look at his work before hiring him. He does everthing from fish to full mount bear. Great job and he will definately get my business again when I return. 210.79.177.70

Ridgerunner replied on Jun 03: I was stationed in Omaha NE and he was just across the border in Counsil Bluffs, Iowa. His card and number is locked up in storage and I wont be able to get to it anytime soon. I'll see if I can find him on google or yellow pages and get back to you. 210.79.177.70

ketco5 TC .50 cal Tue, Jun 02, 09
Just a question for all you muzzeloading people. I have never had a pass through shot on any deer I have shot with my TC .50 cal. I am shooting 245 grain powerbelt with 150 grain's of powder. Any ideas on what may give me that passthrough? This is more of a just wondering question. The gun is dead on and i only have to track a few feet in most situations.
ihunt4food replied on Jun 03: Basically, a bullet kills through impact - Shock. Bullets kill through massive tissue and organ damage, and its kinetic energy. A pass through shot from any firearm is not an ideal situation when you want to kill game. Unlike an arrow with a sharp broad head where it kills by cutting through arteries, capillaries and veins, creating heavy bleeding. A pass through is a good thing for an arrow. I have a TC Pro Hunter and shoot exactly the same load, your doing everything right! 12.152.252.4

RackAttack Baitcaster Blues! Wed, May 27, 09
I just got my first baitcaster and can't seem to get it to cast without getting all the loops in the reel. Can anyone tell me what the trick is to these reels? I have tried everything from adjusting the drag to adjusting the "brakes" but I can see this takes some time to learn. Thanks guys!
Chief replied on May 27: You'll need to adjust it to the weight of the lure you're throwing. Set it so that when the lure hangs it just barely pulls line from the reel. When you cast, you'll need to feather the spool with your thumb. It takes LOTS of practice to get it right. A quality baitcaster is the way to go as well. Avoid casting into the wind, as this will cause birdsnests too. One more thing. If you're fishing light tackle, you're better off with an open face reel. I'd only use a baitcaster for lures 1/2 oz or heavier, although the diehards will throw lighter gear. Hope this helps. Practice-Practice-Practice. - Chief 204.115.33.45

Been a little behind on checking out the site. Nice birds for all of you guys!! Started tournament season (open in CT) already, but I've got nothing good to report yet. Looking forward to the start of the NY Federation tournamnets on Lake George in June.

ihunt4food Turkey in the Oven! Thu, May 14, 09
Well, I finally connected this morning with a gobbler! It's been a tough season for me. Almost pulled the trigger a couple of times, but just couldn't make it happen. I've been hunting since the weekend before regular season with my son on the youth hunt. That's a great program. Anyway, recently on my way to work I've been seeing some nice birds about a mile from my house. There are a couple of nice toms and they are always showing off for the ladies. I decided I was going to get out early this morning, listen and come up with a game plan. At 4:50 AM the birds where already going nuts. I set up a hen decoy without the b-mobile, behind me and practically underneath the birds (ambush). I waited until 5:15 AM and started to make some soft clucks and light yelps. The gobbler answered every time and I could here the hens yelping also! At 5:25 AM a hen flew down right at my decoy. Soon after that, the tom and another hen joined them. The gobbler was in the field and heading towards my decoy. At 35 yards I clucked, purred and yelped. He picked his head up, I squeezed off the round and my 3-inch magnum heavy shot number 4's connected! He rolled and it was all over at 5:30 AM. I thanked god for blessing me and headed home. He's 19 lbs., 9 3/4-inch beard and 1 1/8-inch spurs.         view photo
ihunt4food replied on May 14: OK, but he's in training today! I'll tell him tomorrow. I know he'll be pissed if it gets in his garden! 12.152.252.4
Yelper replied on May 14: Tell your buddy Mr. Volpie he has a female, 800-900lb moose running around behind his house. The land owner was telling me about it yesterday. His dogs chased it for 3/4 mile before he could catch up to them... 167.244.212.6

RackAttack Another First Turkey! Sun, May 10, 09
I took my firend out last Thursday and my favorite spot paid off again and he got his first turkey! A nice bird with a 9.75 inch beard and some real nice spurs. This has turned out to be an awesome season! The best part was that this tom wasn't the only one to come in, this was one of 9 to come in, and to think we almost didn't go out due to the rain. Good luck guys hope you all can score big this year!         view photo

Yelper Turkey Fan Mount Wed, May 06, 09
Hi Rackattack, instead of spending the money to have a taxidermist mount the fan and beard, take a look at Tasco Taxidermy Supply. They have a bunch of inexpensive do it yourself ideas. This is what I am buying. $19.95+ shipping. http://www.taxidermyarts.com/catalog/         view photo

I took my nephew out this past Sunday and he ended up taking his first Tom at age 10 with a little help from his uncle. I am now looking to find a taxidermist to mount the fan and beard for him. Good luck everyone this year! There are still some big gobblers out there!         view photo

"I was mowing a field on a tractor and saw a doe who would not leave. When I got pretty close she moved about 50 yards away but still would not leave! I just happen to see a fawn laying in the tall grass just in time. I ran to grab my camera while momma stood a close watch. I snapped this photo. It's a little button buck."
