Nice buck. pjbear Glass Lake Sun, Jul 18, 10 Does anyone know why the fishing access to Glass Lake (Rensselaer County) has been blocked off? Went there yesterday to throw the canoe in and do some fishing and found a bunch of boulders and rocks had blocked off the area to put in a car top boat. It was always stocked which would mandate a public access but that could have changed with the state being as messed up as it is. Just seeing what anyone out there would know about it. pjbear replied on Jul 19: The glass lake association is upset with outsiders launching jet ski's from that car top boat launch site, so they blocked it. However, they did not do so in an appropriate manner, so negotiations will ensue. Hopefully, we can come to some form of accommodation...so that you will once again be able to fish from a canoe you can launch there, but jet skiers won't be able to get on. On my way up to Lake Lila for the annual canoe trip with three buddies and we had a moose in front of our truck on Rt. 30 northbound just outside of Speculator, NY. It's head was higher than the cab of our Chev K2500 pickup. Shoulder was above the hood. Beautiful animal, very healthy looking. We were able to watch it for about 5 minutes once it loped off into the woods. Hit on chunked herring and I held on for the ride!!!! Miserable out, but they where biting. Had some nice runs yesterday and was glad to land this one (with the help of my son). I have an exclusive ideal spot (actually two) on the Hudson. One spot has two channels (main and an old ship building one), while the other is right near/on the main channel (point).
